Best Thrift Stores: Wasteland
Last week we helped you navigate the racks of Goodwill. This week we’re reviewing a more high-end thrift shop. Wasteland on 4th street in Santa Monica is the place to find something fabulous when you’ve got a little more than 20 dollars in your pocket.
Wasteland handpicks secondhand items that, on average, cost around 15 to 30 dollars. They also sell unused items that are a little pricier. It is very easy to spend a lot at this store because it’s a wonderland of funky and bold pieces. Everything is in top condition, and quite frankly, worth the cost. So, before you enter, establish a mission!
Make some rules for yourself, such as deciding to only look in one section. Give yourself a time limit, a spending limit…do something to prepare.
The best things to spend your dough on at Wasteland are:
- Shoes – great condition and there’s great selection in the back room (with racks and racks of shoes).
- Pants – I always feel iffy about buying pants at a place like Goodwill because, well, who knows what has been in there? But Wasteland pants are in quality condition and there’s a good range of brand names.
- Event attire – when you need something nice that will costs less than similar items at Nordstrom.
Have a happy Fashion Friday and good luck with your thrifting adventures!
