Mojo Asks Students: How do you like the generic brand Sriracha sauce in the dining halls?

UCLA dining halls are officially part of the Sriracha apocalypse. Easily recognizable by its green cap and rooster logo, Huy Fong Foods’ Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce must now be held for 30 days before being shipped to consumers. Because of this new regulation by the California Department of Public Health, the continuous shipping of Sriracha has been halted, causing a Sriracha shortage. This week our dining halls finished off the last of their supply of Huy Fong Foods’ Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce and made the switch to Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Chili Sauce. Victoria Sandoval, a manager at Feast, feels optimistic about the switch and commented, “I think it tastes better than the old brand. A little more authentic!” Sandoval does not know if or when the UCLA dining halls will get Huy Fong Foods’ Sriracha hot sauce back. (more…)

Mojo Asks Students: What Are Your Best Tips For Picking A Roommate?

From the farting-while-slumbering roommate to the apartment-mate who throws parties every weekend, we’ve all heard the stories of roommates from hell. With the time to decide on living arrangements for next year drawing nigh (MyUCLA Housing applications are due by Jan. 28 at 4 p.m.), students now must consider who they want to live with and where. Mojo asked students for tips and advice on how to avoid a living situation disaster for the upcoming academic year.

Students Share their Highlights of 2013

As you got back to school after a long day of travel (perhaps delayed by out-of-state snowstorms or stuck in the car with your chatty friend from the Bay) and collapsed into your bed with some Netflix, it is quite possible that your roommate declared to you his or her resolution to work out everyday and jogged off after asking you about yours. Even if you don’t have a resolution or know you probably won’t be sticking to it for the full year, you can still look back on 2013 and celebrate all of high points from the last 12 months.
