Bringing Autumn to Sunny LA: Trader Joe’s Edition

Some foods just put me in a festive, wintery mood: chocolate, peppermint, anything ginger. Here in Los Angeles, however, we’re missing out on the cold/rainy/snowy weather, and this poses a problem, but not for long. Here are some food options under $5 from Trader Joe’s that will overcome the bright sunshine and bring winter to Los Angeles.

First of all: these ginger snaps. They’re amazing. They embody festiveness. Plus you get so many; they’re only $3.99!

The best part of winter is by far all of the amazing drink options, and I would highly recommend the spiced chai from Trader Joe’s.

These little gingerbread men are perfect for the holidays, and taste fantastic. For $2.99? So worth it.

If you’ve never had a chocolate orange, you are missing out. Once you take it out of the box, it’ll be wrapped in foil. Stand on a hard floor and drop the orange onto the floor while it’s still wrapped. When you unwrap it, it will fall open into chocolate orange slices. Proceed to eat the entire thing.

Last, but not least, these candy cane Joe-Joe’s (read: candy cane Oreos) are so tasty. You can’t turn down anything with candy canes during the holidays.

Ten Snacks For Less Than $1 From Hill Top Shop

Do you ever wake up too late to grab some breakfast from the Hill? Or maybe you’re running low on swipes for the week (for those of you who have regular meal plans)? Maybe you just got really tired of school food (I already did!)?

Like many college students, I’m broke! And always hungry. I’m ALWAYS leaving my room exactly 30 minutes before my lecture to make sure I get there on time and that does not allow me to stop by one of the dining halls or a to-go dining commons for breakfast. I also don’t have time to come back up to the Hill and grab some lunch. So what happens? I starve!

Other times, I get really tired of the food on the Hill. Unbelievable! Right? But it happens to a couple of people and it might happen to you.

If you’re like me, there’s a solution to that!

These snacks from the Hill Top Shop are each less than $1 and will definitely come in handy when you’re starving.

14 Restaurants that Charge $5 or Less to Deliver to UCLA

Stephanie Orpilla / Daily Bruin

This week, De Neve dining hall closed for renovation. UCLA Dining sneakily renamed Hedrick dining hall “De Neve at Hedrick,” but we at Mojo know better. Hedrick will always be Hedrick, an unbearable extra four flights of stairs farther up the Hill than good ol’ De Neve. We’ve lost a major food source on the Hill. Last year, Mojo told you about Italian Express and Mr. Noodle, but here are 14 more restaurants that will deliver to you for $5 or less as long as you live within 3 miles of the UCLA perimeter. Hopefully one of these will fill the gaping hole in your stomach that was once satisfied by the exceptional De Neve omelets. (more…)
