Dairy Debates: A Froyo Frenzy
Frozen yogurt lovers from all parts of campus got irrationally excited upon spotting the new froyo joint on the block. For those of you who haven’t passed it yet, Sweetspot is located on the first floor of Ackerman Union, alongside Rx Candy. The dessert is self-serve and the selection varied. But how does it compare to other frozen yogurt spots in Westwood, namely Yogurtland? We asked students what they thought.
“I liked it,” says Malavika Chugh, a third-year economics and global studies student. “I think it was as good as Yogurtland. I love that they have an ice cream option, because most yogurt places don’t.” As for the toppings, Chugh was a little disappointed by the selection but found a clever solution: “I bought candy from the store and put it on my yogurt,” she explains.
Kevin Park, a third-year psychology student, was a little more on the fence. “The toppings selection seemed good, but I thought the yogurt was a little runny and less concentrated than I would’ve liked,” Park said. When asked how Sweetspot compared to big-name yogurt shops, Park was clear: “I would choose to go to big brands, because I don’t think it really compares.”
Perhaps the most enthusiastic response we got came from David Chernobylsky, a third-year microbiology, immunology and molecular genetics student. “[Sweetspot] is awesome,” Chernobylsky says. “It’s the second time I’ve gotten it. As long as they have chocolate chips and chocolate sprinkles, I’m happy. I can’t see a difference with other brands.”
Regardless of whether you’ve tried Sweetspot or not, we’d love to hear your opinion. What’s your favorite yogurt shop? Take our poll to let us know!
